our family
we are a small family with two little ones and a friendly golden retriever. diana works from home as a training consultant to nonprofit advocacy organizations, and greg builds housing in oakland. we love outdoor adventures, cooking healthy meals, traveling, camping, hiking, skiing, biking, and tinkering in our garden.
we were early airbnb enthusiasts - we started hosting in 2010 and have made friends around the world. we have traveled the world and stayed in many airbnbs and hotels, and we aim to make the casita a 5-star experience: white towels, fresh, new bed linens, robes, floor heat in the bathroom, locally-roasted coffee, and perhaps a few small treats!
we can point you to the best places to get outside and see big trees, gorgeous coastline, and spectacular mountains just outside of the Bay, or can send you on fun day trips and to the best food spots here in the bay. we’re native californians and love making recommendations for exploring our golden state.
building the casita
when we bought our home, there was a cinder-block garage in the footprint of the existing casita. we collaborated with our close friend ming who is a brilliant architect, and were able to make the most of the small footprint, mostly expanding vertically! our super friendly contractor eric of e+j builders did beautiful work, and diana put her love of interior design into action.
the casita is filled with a few treasures, books, and items from local shops we love as well as artists from etsy. we will soon be setting up an online store to link to some of our favorite local artists and suppliers… like high wire coffee, the berkeley botanical garden gift shop, and fort point brewing co. which we include in the casita for guests to enjoy.
